Last year I felt a growing stress, guilt and depression about the Earth and climate change. Perhaps some of you also feel eco-anxiety. Spending time worrying about it but not taking any action hasn’t been doing me, or the planet, any good. So my New Years Resolutions for 2018 are dedicated to the environment. I hope you’ll join me in some or all of these!
1. Going Car-less
Six months ago my car lease ended, and I have decided not to get another vehicle this year. Currently I’m living in a town where I can walk to everything I need, and I can always rent a car for a couple days if I really need to.
2. Nearly Meat-less
Vegan at home. If I go out to a special restaurant or to a friend’s for dinner, I will eat what is prepared. But when cooking at home I’ll be skipping the animal products.
Travel is an important part of my life, and much of it is unavoidable, but last year I visited 11 countries. This year I’m going to keep it under 5.
4. Green Home
I have replaced as many as possible of my home cleaning and body products with eco products. These are the ones I recommend.
Laundry: Molly’s Suds
Formulated with earth and plant-derived ingredients that are eco-responsible, free of carcinogens, and truly safe for your family AND the planet. No harmful surfactants or harsh chemicals that would irritate sensitive skin, and no known toxins. Certified Vegan, gluten-free, and Certified Cruelty-Free.
Dishwasher: Ecover Dishwasher tablets
Made with plant based & mineral ingredients. Biodegradable and phosphate free formula.
Dish Soap: Ecover Dish Soap
Made with natural organic bamboo charcoal. Destroys bad breath and removes smoke stains and Coffee stains. Manufactured from eco-friendly materials without harmful effervescent or abrasive ingredients.
I also really enjoy using Active Wow charcoal to whiten and cleanse my teeth. Fun in the shower!
