Welcome to Moods Beyond Meds!
I’m Laurel, and over the past 30 years I have thoroughly experienced and explored the realm of mental health and wellness. My own personal journey has included periods of depression, mental health disorders, hospitalizations, medications, countless doctors and therapies.
Through a lot of research and trial and error I managed to taper myself off of medication, adjust my lifestyle and habits to maintain a stable mood and highly functional way of life.
For the past three years I have been almost completely symptom free, I am now off of all medications, I don’t regularly see any doctors and have never felt happier or healthier in my entire life. Along the way I have met many interesting people and learned a lot about the truths of the pharmaceutical industry. The way mental health is viewed and treated has vastly differed throughout history, and each culture has their own way of looking at it as well.
I am not a doctor or a therapist, I do not recommend going off of any medication without great care and consult of your doctor. However, I would like to share with you what has worked for me and what hasn’t, and help you discover your own path towards wellness. Topics on Moods Beyond Meds range from nutrition and supplements to lifestyle choices, alternative therapies and other tips. I will conducting interviews, traveling to meet relevant people and sharing those experiences as well.
